The Challenge

The client is one of the biggest energy companies in the region, part of a globalconsulting and engineering group working across energy, oil and gas, andenvironmental sectors. Its operations in the Middle East cover Saudi Arabia, UAE,Iraq, Qatar, Oman, and broader middle east, with more than 4,000 employees

As the business continued to grow in the region, there was a need to shift towards amore strategic and agile HR model that supports workforce planning, brings betteralignment across countries, and makes HR delivery more integrated and responsive.

Our Approach

We worked closely with the HR leadership team to co-develop a model that fitsthe organisation’s needs:

  • Held 20+ discovery sessions across teams to understand what’s working and wherethe main challenges are, identifying shared themes across functions and geographies.
  • Benchmarked the HR structure, team size, and capabilities against similarorganisations to bring external perspective and support informed decision-making.
  • Mapped key people processes (recruitment, mobilisation, onboarding, internaltransfers) to highlight inefficiencies, repeated efforts, and localisation gaps.
  • Ran leadership workshops to agree design principles, test structural options, andalign on high-impact areas.
  • Shaped a set of targeted interventions/change elements that combine quick winsand longer-term changes in structure, roles, and process improvements.

Key Outcomes

  • Recommended an enhanced HR operating model and high-level organisational structure with clarified roles, strengthened leadership, and greater flexibility to shift capacity across BUs and geographies.
  • Equipped leadership with a clear change narrative, direction, and structure to begin realigning HR delivery with business priorities at scale, including suggested governance and practical change management support.
  • Proposed practical changes to streamline processes, simplify governance, reduce handoffs, and improve accountability across the HR lifecycle.
  • Delivered actionable quick wins and a four-month roadmap of targeted initiatives to support implementation, including a detailed implementation plan, assignment of initiative owners (champions), and supporting tools to track progress.
