The Challenge

The organisation sought to re-design their Services, focussed on improving Service Users’ experiences, increasing Service User-facing time for staff, and leveraging cross-organisational expertise​.

Each Service had different ways of operating and ‘menus’ of provision. Our challenge was to ensure greater equity in service provision, re-imagining how a substance misuse service could be delivered​.

Our Approach

Q5 led the programme of work alongside the Change Team, reporting into the Deputy Chief Executive.​

  • We completed a thorough as-is assessment, including organisational-wide survey, 65 1:1s and 19 focus groups​
  • Our team created three clear ambition statements for their future service model​
  • Mapped against these ambition statements were seven governing principles for how the Service Model would work in practice​
  • Through a combination of workshops and Design Group meetings, we created a Service Model, a visual depiction (and ‘map’) of their future service provision​
  • To build out this Service Model, we defined 28 major recommendations and worked with the Change Team to incorporate in-flight projects within our final deliverable

Key Outcomes

  • Re-designed end-to-end service ‘model’, from initial contact to follow-up care​
  • 28 prioritised recommendations to deliver transformative change for frontline staff and Service Users​
  • Blueprint models of a Shared Service Centre and Service User Engagement (contact) Centre​
  • An implementation roadmap with indicative resourcing plan, with detailed breakdowns of the work required (including a 90-day plan)
